Going Abroad on consumer tariffs

Before You Leave

There are things you need to do before you leave in order to ensure that your phone will work abroad. It might not be possible to get these things done once you are abroad.

1. International/roaming bars?
Call us on 0131 557 8300, and ask us to check that there are no international or roaming bars on your number, and to lift them if there are. We will do this right away. It is important to do this before you go, as limitations on some foreign networks means that it is not always possible to do this while you are abroad.

2. Access to Voicemail?
You will most likely need a PIN to access your voicemail messages while abroad. Due to overseas network restrictions, it is not always possible to set your PIN once you are abroad, so it’s best to do it before you go. Simply call 121 from your mobile and follow the instructions. Alternatively, you can call +447836 121 121 if you’re not on a Vodafone-preferred network while roaming. It’s a good idea to take a note of both of these numbers just in case. When you go into 121 to set your PIN, you may find that there is already a PIN set. If you don’t have a note of it, let us know and we will have Vodafone reset the PIN and text it to you.

3. Phonebook?
Your phonebook will work as long as you have prefixed the numbers with +44. You can still use the +44 prefix when in the UK, so you don’t need to change them back again.
